HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-13-16 PC Correspondence - Item 1 (Flores)Whenever I am returning to San Luis Obispo, via Highway 1, 227, the 101, and see the thick layer of smog. That now hangs over my hometown. The question comes to mind - does the Planning ('om- mission/City Officials feel and embarassTient or guilt, for creating the infrastructure that led, to this layer of smog? For the better part of my life. I have walked two blocks to purchased groceries. But, due to repeated closures of the neighborhood grocery store. I have been put in the position of hav- ing to drive across town, to purchase groceries. What was once was, a ten minute drive. Can now be, a one hour in each direction, traffic jam of hostile -scofflaw drivers. Now I am part of the problem, created by the Planning Commission/ City Officials. Do you feel any embarassment or guilt for creating this traffic mess? Once again, another subdivision is being pro- posed. That will destroy, what has been, his- torically farmland. This sibdivision will cre= ate more traffic on Orcutt Road and Johnson Avenue; adding to the layer of smog. Plus, this subdivision will be a burden on San Luis Obispo's resources; water, sewage, emrgancy services, school system. But, I am guessing nothing will be done to stop this subdivision. Because making money is more impbi-tant. Then protecting the enviroment or San Luis Obispo's quality of life. Or, this tid-bit is true, that has been going around San-Lais Obispo - That once a developer(s) put money into the system. No matter how bad the project is for the en- viroment or San Luis Obispo's quality of life, or how many appeals, The developer(s) will get their way. Which would explain how casual city officials are: to destroying farmland, building in railroad blast zones, building in airport flight paths, building in historic and well documented flood zones. Thank you for your time, G.R.
