HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-13-16 PC Correspondence - Item 1 (Small)Meeting: Christian, Kevin Item: RECEIVED From: Camille Small <notetocamille@yahoo.com> CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO Sent: Wednesday, April 13, 2016 3:18 PM To: Advisory Bodies APR 13 2016 Subject: Planning Commission Re: 1299 Orcutt Rd. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT Dear Commissioners, A great many residents cannot believe the City Manager is recommending the addition of so many developments. We have people studying the traffic and water impacts and know daily life for both existing and new reidents will be changed for the worse. We know that if you approve everything brought before you, you will not be protecting the essence of San Luis Obispo that both residents and tourists have been drawn to. Helping to ruin this smaller, unique and picturesque city should not be as easy for you as another "yes" vote has been. Wouldn't you give everyone a blessing and a sense of security if you voted "no" on this plan and waited for more reliable results of the cumulative impacts of traffic and water? Why would any city not look at the whole instead of individual parts? ` In other words, you cannot vote with valid and reliable data on each piece of the puzzle (and should refuse to do so) without seeing how this piece fits in with the others when you will be better able to see the entire picture. Exercizing sound judgement after looking at the whole picture is what we ask of you. If not, we assume it is first come, first served. Then you can ask yourselves if the first developments in line the best for the city in the long run. You must also ask yourselves when, if ever, you will decide that saying "no" is appropriate. Money for running the City may have to be studied. Perhaps our expenses have escalated beyond what is reasonable. It is time to look at the number of people employed and the level of salaries being paid. As responsible residernts serving in an important arm of "oversight", as it were, you can step out to ask those questions. I assure you, your effort in doing so will deem you reasonable and responsible for helping San Luis Obispo from rushing headlong over a cliff. Respectfully submitted, Camille Small
