Subject: Proposed SLO Brew Concert Venue on Aerovista
Dear Ms. Christianson, Mr. Carpenter, and SLO City Council,
APR 18 2016
I too would like to add my voice to my friends, neighbors, and other homeowners concerned about the potential
impacts of an outdoor music venue at the new SLO Brew facility off of Broad St. (227 Hwy) if approved. I understand
the venue would be outdoors and be able to accommodate approximately 600 people. I would like to urge you
to vote against this planned development.
I have been both a renter and homeowner in the Tank Farm area for 11 years now. This is a quiet family
friendly neighborhood with parks, walking trails and strong property values - precisely the reason people
choose to invest in this area. I wake up to the train in the morning and used to know when the last United flight
landed at 11 PM. Sometimes I can even hear the crowds at Darrion Garcia and the Blues Baseball Games. I
was aware of these neighborhood characteristics when I moved in. I am also a patron of SLO Brew, enjoy
great beer and love live music!
However, I have had some experience in the planning field and was a former member of the Santa Lucia
Homeowners Association. The Tank Farm area has seen a lot of growth over the years. Unfortunately the
economic growth has come with various traffic issues from Tank Farm and Broad south to Price Canyon
Rd. Growth is good. Smart growth is better.
I would disagree that a live music venue in the proposed location would qualify as good growth. Some potential impacts
include increased traffic, traffic safety concerns from increased congestion and impaired drivers attending the venue,
impacts on emergency response times from the airport location, light pollution, and noise pollution. There is already
noise pollution from the nearby farm house that hosts weddings and I do not support the potential hours of consistent
drum and bass noise from a concert venue while trying to have a family BBQ.
In addition, I don't see how the characteristics of this type of venue would fit into the general plan in an area that has all
the characteristics of a business park and large nearby residential neighborhoods.
I urge you to vote against the live outdoor music venue in the proposed location.
Thank you for your consideration,
Lennon Bancroft
