HERITAGE TREE 71 PALOMAR AGENDA 6/27/16
This communication is intended to point out the discrepancies between comments made by architect at
the May 23rd tree committee meeting, and the plans he has submitted to the City.
S.The property is now and has only ever been a "single-family dwelling "under the definition In the
municipal code.
2. The demolition plan AIA Indicates the location of the large established trees currently on the subject
property, approximately 50 in number. The landscape plan L-1 shows all those trees removed with 4
trees on the adjoining easement remaining, contrary to the claim that most of the trees aren't on the
property and won't he removed.
3. There is no "open space" provided for despite the representation of the project architect when
questioned.
The project developer and architect have adopted a strategy of asserting that there Is no true objection
to any aspects of the project (relocation of historic structure, clear cutting of 1.3 acres of urban forest,
change of use to ultra -high density multi -family, massing and height of buildings, lack of adequate
parking) and that the singular objection is the anticipated adjunct opening of Luneta Drive to through
traffic. This is simply untrue and intended to diminish the validity of any objections expressed by city
residents in relation to the proposed development. Please be assured that our concerns are real and
warrant your attention.
Thank you in advance for your thoughtful and concerned consideration of the Heritage Tree application
presently pending before you.
