Many concerned neighbors feel like we have hit a brick wall in our attempts to have the trees' quality evaluated by your committee and the city arborist. Is it not is the purview of the Tree Committee to protect trees from needlessly being killed? Without any explanation the discussion of 71 Palomar's trees that your committee placed on your June 27th agenda was dropped. Apparently you cannot agendize or discuss items that may be of concern to you without the consent of the City Attorney, Christine Dietrich. This is an unfortunate policy. It means death by process for the beautiful trees that contribute so much to our community and wildlife whose habitat is literally on the chopping block. The city arborist, Ron Combs', report that according to Doug Davidson was almost completed on June 4th, has never been seen by the public. The residents of SLO have only been allowed to see the developer's tree report. Something is very wrong in our proclaimed "tree city." Would you please attend the ARC meeting scheduled for August 1, 2016 and give your input on the 51 trees of which 48 or 49 will be slaughtered under the present architectural plans which are so disrespectful to the gorgeous site? This project is not slated to be seen by the Planning Commission or City Council and this is your opportunity to weigh in on this issue. Thank you for your consideration. Cheryl McLean San Luis Obispo
