COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
First I want to acknowledge your service to the City as I have also served on a commission and know what time it takes
to do the job well. Thank you, in advance, for your service.
Regarding the 71 Palomar proposed project, I want to say that I am chagrined at the thought of this project going
forward. I have lived near this neighborhood in the past and it truly is a family neighborhood.
This project is an inappropriate use of a historic site. Obviously, this will become another student ghetto, and I don't
use this word lightly. Several neighborhoods in the Foothill Blvd. area have fallen victim
to the trend of wealthy parents buying up houses and putting as many kids as possible into them to cover the mortgage.
This project at Palomar is simply a less covert attempt at cashing -in on student housing.
Please do not "rubber stamp" this project, as you are damaging the long-time residents and tax payers in these family
neighborhoods. Property values will plummet when this project goes forward.
Also, I want to say that removing the number of tress that this applicant suggests is necessary, is appalling!
If you care about the tax paying residents in the adjacent neighborhoods, you will deny this project.
