As a student with a limited amount of money to be made in the local part-time job market, I've come to realize that finding affordable, safe, and stable housing in this town has transcended the yearly chore of finding a landlord to approve a rental application, and has become a 6 month burden of stressing day in and day out as to where i will be laying my head when my lease will be ending in a half years time. In February of 2016, my partner and i began to call and email nearly everyday about any possible listing we could find locally or online, only to find that despite said posting usually being just hours old, it had a wait list of names almost two pages long, or even worse, was already snatched up and signed away. After months of searching, in June of this year we had finally gotten an acceptance, and had no choice but to say yes to the apartment it was for. I'm now living in this unsafe, unkept, and overpriced apartment, all due to a lack of student housing in our town. Each year thousands of new students come to San Luis Obispo looking for new opportunities, only to have those opportunities brushed to the side due to the stresses that come with finding a place to live and thrive. Having read and seen the Palomar project and plans, i can only hope this is something that will quickly break ground to help me and the thousands of other young students looking for a better place to live happily, and be able to focus on the aspects of their student life that truly matter. I both encourage and hope for your support in this project. Sincerely, Cole Robbins
