The dwelling were built around trees and the street narrowed to keep huge Eucalyptus trees. Also they build 2 houses s t ound the old farm house enhancing the entire development and neighborhood. In addition to developments that enhances neighborhoods is on the corner of Laurel and Johnson Ave. Again the existing house is left intact, like the old farmhouse on Serrano and new construction build around the existing house and trees. At both sites the new structures were built around the trees. So it seems criminal to destroy the historic house built by Chauncy H. Philipps one if our areas founders, a banker contemporary of banker & builder of Jack house. Also this is one of the last house built in the Italian Renaissance style by firm of Julius C. Mathews & Sons (father of California archtecture). So Sanford House is not only important to San Luis Obispo but State of California. If anything is built it should enhance and preserve the site not destroy it. Thank you, Elizabeth De Haan Sent from my T -Mobile 4G LTE device tz 517 t 1 _ t ` `.
