Dear Board Members and Council Members:

We who have chosen San Luis Obispo as our home do it at great expense.
Housing is expensive due to the great atmosphere, charming historical areas, and
proximity to our employers, or school. By being in your respective positions, you
have some commitment to maintaining the health of neighborhoods, and our
community at large. I thank you for your service.
Please consider carefully the development at 71 Palomar in San Luis Obispo.
I was dismayed at the proposed development of the site for several reasons. The
presence of mature trees defines a neighborhood, so removing so many trees is
not acceptable. (I have planted 6 trees on my property in the last 3 years.)
Increasing the number of housing units in an area already so densely populated
will worsen traffic, and jeopardize senior and student pedestrians that already live
in the area. Approving housing without onsite parking is irresponsible! Parking is
already managed by districts but this does not solve the problem. Please do not
fall for the greed of increasing property taxes to mitigate a lousy development
plan. Will the developer offer compensation to the loss of surrounding homes'
property values? Please do not approve this development plan. It is wrong to
change the historic Sandford House to accommodate another apartment
complex. At least insist on some ecological studies in the form of an
Environmental Impact Report of the 1.17 acre parcel. Then ask yourself, would
like to live next to this development? How about across the street from this
development? Would you like to live behind this development? Do unto others
what you want done to you.
Thank You. Please help us keep San Luis Obispo a special to live.
