Subject: Planning Commission - 22 Chorro
Dear Doug and xZandrea:
RECEIVED
CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO
AUG 15 2016
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
I was not able to find contact information for the City Planing Commission but your names were given as staff
liaison so I am emailing my concerns to you regarding the proposed project at 22 Chorro.
As you know, I'm sure the Chorro Foothill intersection is very busy. It is especially problematic with people
coming out of the the Starbucks parking lot - frequently traffic is blocked by people trying to cross two lanes of
traffic. The scope of the proposed project could make this an impossible intersection.
My major concern is the request from the developer for reduced parking. I know there is a wish to have people
use cars less but reducing parking/adding bikes racks does not address the issue. I live on Cerro Romauldo and
we already have overflow parking from:
*apartments on Foothill;
*N. Chorro apartments;
*Pacheco;
*Students that park and then ride their bikes to school;
*The remodeled apartments on Ferrini that do not have adequate parking (the parking was probably fine in 1950
but is not adequate for today's needs);
PLEASE do not reduce the already inadequate parking requirements.
I'm sorry that I can't attend the meeting and I hope you will share my concerns with the commission - parking is
increasingly problematic on this side of town.
If there is someone else I should direct my concerns to please let me know.
Thank you,
Mary Parker
