Chairperson Stephensen and Planning Commission members
I'm writing this in support of both infill housing and adding to the desperately needed housing stock in the city of San
Luis Obispo.
I did review the staff report attached to the hearing notice and for what I see, Mr. Riehl seems to be following the
guidelines/policy that is set up by the City of San Luis Obispo. I don't think he is just making this stuff up.
I do understand that he is requesting exceptions for this development but again, the exceptions appear to follow the
guidelines. I don't think it is his fault that with an 11% allocation to affordable housing that he receives an incentive. I
think if I were a developer I would also try to take advantage of what is being offered whether that is a density bonus,
parking reduction etc... I would also think that he may being trying to follow some of LUCE with the change in the multi
modal section and trying to some degree get away from the daily use of the automobile, thus the focus on the bicycle
aspect of the development.
Not mentioned in many of the e‐mails opposing this development as its been submitted, are some improvements to this
area for the bus turn out, bike lane and turn lane improvements.
Please move this along as you see fit. Housing is needed and I believe housing was one of the top city goals in the last
cycle of setting city goals.
Thank you as always for your consideration.
