That location has long been vacant and having been a resident for over 20 years, I’ve watched that location house large trucks parked on site and be surrounded by a chain link fence for decades. I’m pleased to see the proposed Mixed-Use project clean up an eye sore at a highly traveled corridor. The mixed use proposal clearly improves an underutilized portion of Foothill and offers housing and commercial space that our city badly needs. I am also pleased to see the developer has taken the street and widened it for the bus lane. With that change, hopefully the currently congested section of the road will be cured. I have personally seen accidents at this location so the improvements to the road circulation seems appropriate and logical and I feel it will help complete a section of Foothill that needs to be finished. The city is under a severe housing crunch. Being a small business owner, I find it increasingly difficult to hire help and pay them a wage that they can afford to live within the city. As costs for rent continue to skyrocket, so do the costs of wages and overhead. Without affordable workforce housing, our local economy is being stunted. With the local institutions accepting more students, we must add housing to mitigate the current skyrocketing rents. Please review this project closely and consider the efforts the developer that has made to satisfy the zoning requirements. Also, please take into account the jobs, housing, and positive impact in-fill developments offer for our community. I am in support of this project and hope you are in agreement.
