Bob-
My husband and I were travelling and were unable to attend your meeting held on August
4th to update the public on the Laguna Lake Dredging and Sedimentation Management
Project. I wonder if you have any materials, such as a Power Point, that you could share with
me from your presentation? I am mostly interested in the ideas regarding the sharing of the
costs of whichever project that will ultimately be selected, and I feel strongly that the costs
must be paid by the general fund or shared equally among all property owners in SLO.
I own a home on Drake Circle in the Laguna Lake area (not lakefront), and I would like to
underscore with the City Council that, with the exception of the lakefront homes, other
nearby homes get no special benefit from proximity to the lake since all must enter the park
from the main entrance on Madonna Road. My property on Drake Circle is 0.8 miles travelling
by road to the entrance of Laguna Park and is no closer by street than homes located on the
other side of Highway 101 at South Street and Higuera or homes on the south side of Los
Osos Valley Road, such as the De Tolosa Ranch Apartments. I have been measuring using
Google Maps. Using other homes located further away in the Laguna Lake area would make
the comparative neighborhoods by distance even more extreme. Also, the size of the Laguna
Lake Natural Reserve at 344 acres makes it clearly not a neighborhood park! It is a major
recreational feature for all city residents and visitors.
Any information you can share with me about the project and proposed funding options
would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, and I hope you are doing well and not missing me
too much since I retired from the County!
