Please consider our thoughts in your. deliberations tonight: Please review carefully the shadow thrown by this building towards Dana Street. This has not been given attention in the planning process. This is a long standing neighborhood and homes on the creek have had access to the morning sunlight for many, many years. There is a morning illumination in the creek that will totally be blocked by this development. That would be a huge historically significant change that could be not be undone. Pants and vegetation could be affected, and the light our homes receive due to the southern exposure will be lost in parts of the properties, and changed radically in others. Consider postponing this decision so that members of your committee can come to our homes at various times of the day to observe what this loss of light to our homes would mean. Projects in far less residential areas have been capped at two to three stories recently. This project is directly across from a long established residential neighborhood and a four story building, and its planned uses will totally change our entire neighborhood, which, has been around for a long, long time. Although noise is not necessarily in your purview, it should be. The proximity of the building that includes businesses, a hotel whose guests will not be invested in the neighborhood, and apartments with outdoor decks, etc., will change the local area permanently. A shady tree lined parking lot itself should be protected for historical purposes. This is not an undeveloped lot, and the parking lot is actually one of the last of its type. There should be historical value in that. Please don't just pass this on to the next committee. Please find that this project, as is, is not compatible with the cultural and historical nature of this small and well loved, just as it is, special part of downtown.
