I'm emailing in support of the 22 North Chorro project. I think that the idea of having another mixed use,
residential building in San Luis Obispo is a fabulous idea. I'm a Cal Poly student, and I once saw a presentation
by the great urban planner and architect, Andres Duany. He preached about how the idea of suburbia/urban
sprawl is negative in all forms. The separation of residential and commercial buildings forces people to have to
drive anytime they want to get somewhere, and cars require precious land to be turned into ugly parking lots. If
people lived where they shopped and worked, as mixed use promotes, they would walk/bike more often. Mixed
use buildings like 22 North Chorro contribute to healthy, active lifestyles, environmental sustainability, and
aesthetically pleasing landscapes and architecture. I also believe that projects like these create a more tight -knit
living community for residents, business owners, and employees. I think that these are all things that San Luis
Obispo would like to cultivate in its communities.
