ITEM NO.:_
I'm writing to advocate for additional housing opportunities in the City of San Luis Obispo. I basically support all housing
styles, types and uses.
It is my opinion that San Luis Obispo is facing a housing crisis and if we don't start adding housing of some kind, it will
not, in any small way help the City of this dilemma.
In reading the staff report, it appears that Mr. Riehl is following the City guidelines established so there may be some
clarity. If you follow the guidelines, this is what you may obtain in the development of any certain property in the city.
My point is, that Mr. Riehl should not be penalized for following your own established rules.
If there is a bonus of some sort such as height, parking etc... for producing a certain percentage of affordable housing,
and he is in fact following those guidelines, then you should really not be surprised at the result.
I believe we need to start building to our allowed densities to at least put a dent in the housing shortage.
