Dear Mayor Marx and City Council members,
aECEIVE-D
OCT 17 2016
SLO CITY CLERK
am asking that you uphold the Planning Commission's denial of the development at 22 Chorro.
The proposed "mixed-use/affordable" project at 22 Chorro Street will not be affordable and
is incompatible with the neighborhood. The 4 stories are too tall for the site and would dominate the
R-1 neighbors' homes and yards. It is too much building for such a small lot and would loom over
Foothill Boulevard and block the views of San Luis Mountain, Bishop's Peak and the Santa Lucia
mountains from many spots that make the area exceptional for residents and visitors.
That particular intersection of Santa Rosa and Chorro is already unsafe and the increased
vehicular/bike/pedestrian traffic would exacerbate the existing dangers. The lack of setbacks from
sidewalks compounds the treacherous corner for pedestrians and bicyclists. The developer's request
to provide fewer than required parking spaces is ridiculous in the neighborhood's already over -
parked, over -traveled streets.
This project is unacceptable in every possible way and would be an insulting assault to our northern
San Luis Obispo neighborhoods as well as degrading to the entire city of San Luis
Obispo. Please uphold the denial of the project as the Planning Commission wisely
decided. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Cheryl McLean
