Subject: 22 N Chorro
During this election cycle we've all heard a lot about how actions speak louder than words but that our words
also matter. I've carried that sentiment around and tried to view a lot through that lens.
San Luis Obispo talks a good game about welcoming growth, industry and innovation but often sits on it's
hands or hides behind the louder and more ornery members of our community when it comes to approving
housing for the people who would create and work those jobs. When we as a city and community have agreed
on how best to use and develop the land, why does it so often become bogged down when it comes to
development and housing?
I understand that there are constituents that need to be appeased but don't also forget the young professionals
and students who don't have time between work, school and family or who maybe aren't aware of the battles
being waged at city council meeting against their interests, who also have a say in what goes on in the town
where they work, live, pay taxes, spend money and invest in their community. We, also have a voice. Don't let
the tail wag the dog.
22 N Chorro is a prime opportunity to create sustainable housing and workspace within the perimeters laid out
in the LUCE. Develop within the city limits, leave open space open.22 N Chorro encourages alternative
transportation and is in the perfect location to do so, as well as providing much needed affordable housing.
Diversify and improve housing in San Luis Obispo, while also staying true to who we say we are. Our words
carry weight but our actions speak louder.
Please approve this project. Let your words and actions speak.
Thank you,
S.R. Fletcher
