Subject: Bishop Street Studios
SLO CITY CLERK
Dear City Council:
First of all, thank you for all you do for our community. I am writing in support of the proposed Bishop
Street Studios project sponsored by Transitions Mental Health Association. I am a resident on Skylark
Lane near the project and have absolutely no reservations about the proposal.
You are all aware of the extensive steps taken by TMHA to communicate with the neighborhood. I
have personally been provided time for a one on one conversation with the organizers. I won't go into
into all the practical points of the project which make it compelling for me. You are aware of
those. But I would add that the mark of a great city and community is the compassion it shows to the
least advantaged of its citizens.
If politics disproportionately reflects the interests of the rich and powerful, then this is an opportunity
for correction. We have fellow neighbors struggling with issues most of us will never face - ready to
live a more independent life if we clear the way. It is a small thing to do with great benefits both to
those served and to the spirit of our town.
am proud that this type of housing is a high priority for our city. It is a reflection of our community's
character. I encourage your support for this project and, again, thank you for your public service.
