Subject: Bishop Street Studios Appeal of AR1019-16 Approval
Dear Mayor Marx and Council members;
I'm writing to urge you to support Bishop Street Studios, and to deny the appeal of the AR1019-16 Approval. The
appellants do not seem to understand the programs and procedures of T -MHA, and to have an unwarranted fear of its
clients. From what I understand, they have not participated in the tours of existing neighborhood T -MHA facilities, and
therefore cannot appreciate how well they fit with existing housing. In addition, their idea for an art/performance center
for the Sunny Acres location involves the need for lots of money and public support, none of which seems to be
forthcoming, nor has it in the past when such ideas were previously put forward for that property. Finally, Fair Housing
laws would appear to make their objections moot.
My support for the Bishop Street Studios project is based on my respect for T -MHA and the care with which it operates
its programs, and my respect for my own neighborhood on Wilding Lane, where I have lived for
34 years. I welcome the new neighbors, and look forward to the much-needed management and development of the
property. The project will make our neighborhood, and our community, better for us all.
Sincerely,
Wendy Brown
