HomeMy WebLinkAboutcc - Codron - Rental Housing Inspection Program updateTo: Maier, John Paul Subject: RE: RHIP Update From: Codron, Michael Sent: Tuesday, February 09, 2016 6:33 PM To: Department Heads Cc: Schneider, Anne; Purrington, Teresa Subject: RHIP Update Mayor and Council, I know you have been correspondence from a number of people on the Rental Housing Inspection Program. Staff is replying to all of the questions that are sent to us, so we are getting answers to the people that are contacting you through the website. I hope you find the following information helpful, I was contacted today by Cynthia Lambert from the Tribune and this answered most of her questions. The next Informational Workshop for the Rental Housing Inspection Program is scheduled for February 11, 2016 at the Library Community Room at 6:30. Due to the high attendance of the first meeting we have set up a registration system for this and all future workshops. This will help to ensure that we don't exceed room occupancy, and will give us the ability to spend time with individuals who have questions after the presentation is completed. We've also added a new workshop to make sure we can accommodate everyone who has questions. Once we reached the 100 person limit for the February 11 meeting we immediately scheduled an additional meeting for February 24. This meeting will also be at the Library Community Room at 6:30. We have also offered to do a presentation for any group who would like to schedule one. If you know of anyone who would like to schedule a presentation please have them contact Teresa Purrington at tpurrin tqon(a-)slocity.org or call 805.781.7159. As of today 906 units have been registered for the program, 241 property owners have filed for exemptions and 10 have filed for amnesty. We are in the process of reviewing 5 of the applications for Amnesty. For these properties, the property owner identified the work which was done on the application they submitted. The remaining 5 need more information from the property owner to help determine what work they think was done and/or we will need to do an inspection to help them determine what was permitted or not. Please let me or Teresa know if you have any questions about the program.
