HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-21-2016 ARC Public Hearing 2 (Ramseyer)I bought my home on Stoneridge Drive expecting future development to comply with design guidelines
enacted with stated purposes that include the following:
"Provide the City of San Luis Obispo and its various reviewing bodies with a document that will facilitate
and expedite the review and subsequent approval of custom homes in the Stoneridge neighborhood...
"create a residential neighborhood that remains consistent with the achitectural character established
in Stoneridge I and that will result in the overall neighborhood appearance similar to a Mediterranean
Hillside village."
Per the City of San Luis Obispo Community Design Guidelines there is a need to consider the style,
character and form of existing buildings around the site when designing a new building. There is also an
expression of concern when the character of a proposed single family dwelling contrasts significantly
with adjacent or neighboring structures (Chapter 1, page 2).
The character of these angular multi -colored homes contrasts significantly with neighboring homes. The
proposed beams at what would be a third story level have a cluttered appearance and would tower over
other homes on Stoneridge Drive where there are no three-story dwellings. The large picture windows
are incompatible with homes on Stoneridge Drive subject to design guidelines that state: "Large picture
windows without a multi -paned design are not acceptable" (page 27)
As a homeowner on Stoneridge Drive, I am very opposed to the proposed new buildings on the grounds
stated above and feel strongly that this development will materially detract from the original
architectural design of the neighborhood and create an eyesore inconsistent with the character of the
homes on my street.
