RECEIVED CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO DEC 0 5 2016 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT Also, I just want to reiterate the massive amount of support this project is getting in the community from those who own businesses nearby and from those who may potentially live here. The council meeting where this project was last seen had a skyrocketing amount of positive letters and public comment. The truth is that the people of SLO want this corner improved into the kind of forward thinking legacy that is proposed. Some minority neighborhood groups may say otherwise, but the bulk of SLO residents greatly support this, as I have talked to dozens of them about their opinions on this. Architecturally speaking: • I think the scale, design elements, and palette of materials and colors is very suitable for this specific lot and neighborhood. • There are enough eye level elements to keep pedestrians feeling comfortable as they are on the sidewalk. •The massing steps back incrementally to reduce the impact of height. *The landscaping on the roof provides a gentle effect and transition into the sky, especially if you have a view of the mountain. • The materials and colors are very controlled and non -distracting to surrounding buildings. • The continuous retail storefront along foothill is consistent with what we want Foothill to be, even if it's not traditional style retail. I hope you also see the appropriateness of this future rental community for the long term fabric of San Luis Obispo and our future. Best, M. Farid Shahid San Luis Obispo Resident of 7 Year
