HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-05-2016 ARC Correspondence - Public Hearing 1 (Grady) From: John Grady [ Sent: Monday, December 05, 2016 4:32 PM To: Advisory Bodies <advisorybodies@slocity.org> Cc: Davidson, Doug <ddavidson@slocity.org>; Cohen, Rachel <rcohen@slocity.org> Subject: 22 Chorro Street Dear ARC Commission: RECEIVED CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO DEC 0 6 2016 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT hope my correspondence and concerns reach you in time for your hearing this evening. I urge that you deny this project as it is inappropriate on so many levels. As you know, the Planning Commission denied this project as well and our city council overrode their actions. I hope your body too will deny the project and perhaps if appealed again to city council the new council will concur with your and the Planning Commission denials. Every time I drive by this tiny lot I ask myself how in the world any developer could cram 27 housing units into this cramped and irregularly shaped space. The project is inappropriate for the neighborhood on many levels ... the massive 4 story height - exceeding what our zoning regulations allow, the density of units, the lack of adequate on site parking, the lack of commercial space included for this zoning, the rooftop balconies, and the privacy issues that the adjoining house on Chorro will surely face. Any one of these issues by itself should be cause for denial, but collectively it should make your decision to deny this project an easy one. This developer is gaming the system and seeking every concession imaginable yet offering very little in return. To consider the inclusion of two studio units on the very top floor as justification for the many variances the applicant is seeking is an insult to you and to our community. Please listen to the concerns of the community and particularly of the adjoining neighborhood who will surely suffer from noise and parking congestion and deny this project. Thank you.
