We live in the area known as Rolling Hills and we were shocked to hear the traffic report say that this project would have a 'small impact' on Highway 227! The Crestmont--227 issue was not addressed directly but this will have a huge impact on our 30 year struggle to safely enter and exit our neighborhood without a traffic light. It was estimated that the Avila Ranch Development will generate 6,000 daily trips. This will have a HUGE impact on 227 and especially Rolling Hills. This should be addressed since according to SLOCOG's recommendations we would be the last to receive a proposed 'round about' and it could be as long as 30 years before this happens. Each time we exit our neighborhood, especially at peak travel times, we face extreme danger in being involved in a traffic accident and killed. The cases of near misses and accidents are increasing daily as the traffic along 227explodes due to more and more development and cars taking 227 to avoid traffic congestion going south on 101. Please tell us your plan to mitigate this problem! The other conditions in and around this project which are ill advised include: * Overall traffic congestion for the area * Quality of life * Problems of being so close to the airport, i.e., noise, pollution, etc. * Developing prime agricultural land * Air quality * Water availability * Impact on schools We feel as more and more people learn of this project (it was not well advertised AT ALL) there will be a great ground swell of opposition and we can only hope that this will convince the'powers that be' to stop this ill advised project.
