In the most strong words, I oppose going forward with this development as it is current presented.
Each day, I commute from Rolling Hills into SLO and back again in the evening. The traffic backed up from
the signal at Los Ranchos extends back into SLO, frequently to Tank Farm Road. The current signal at
Buckley and Hwy 227 is already a very dangerous intersection with many right turning "California stoppers"
taking extreme chances. I have been hit twice and just avoided a collision many time.
California Cities Water provided the potable water for the south end of SLO. Already the only production
well on Lewis Lane is over pumped during the summers and in Rolling Hills, we endure noticeable pressure
drops.
The Avila Ranch Development appears to have a street interconnection with Rolling Hills at the end of
Caballeros. Presently, the only way into or out of Rolling Hills is the non -controlled intersection with Hwy
227 at Crestmont. Considering the approximate 6000 additionally daily trips assigned to the Avila Ranch
Development and the congestion that will build up at both ends of Buckley (at HWY 227 and at Vashell
Lane at South Higuera, Avila Ranch residents will quickly adjust to exiting down Caballeros in Rolling
Hills. This additional traffic will greatly increase the danger of children walking and riding to school at Los
Ranchos Elementary.
Finally, will there ever be an end to plowing under the best farm land in SLO County so it can be paved
over to bring in a few more tax payers?
