Hi,
My name is Maria Soles and I live in the Rolling Hills development in San Luis Obispo. I did
attend the meeting on January 1 Ith, but did not speak.
My biggest concern with the Avila Ranch project is the impact it will have on the bottle necked
traffic already facing the 227 Corridor near our home at the intersection of the Crestmont and the
227.
I have a very hard time trying to make a left turn from Crestmont to the 227. I have to wait until
someone heading south pauses long enough and oftentimes flashes their lights while doing so, to
let me through, all while looking to my right making sure no one heading northbound is trying to
make a left turn into Crestmont, which would cause a collision, as well.
Because of the swift nature of this turn into the 227, my daughter had to sell her manual
transmission car and buy an automatic for fear that she wouldn't be able to switch gears fast
enough when turning and get into an accident. Why should this even be something she'd have to
worry about?!!
We don't live in a third world country, and I don't understand why our lives are at stake making
this turn. And now the Avila Ranch project is proposed, which will add 6,000 more trips a day
to the already existing mess me have! Seriously?!!!
Come on SLO...get with the program. It isn't about building more homes. FIX what's there. I
need to be safe. We all do. It has been discussed for many, many years to no avail, and now that
a new housing project is proposed, SLO is right on it? I don't think so! NOT THAT FAST! A
life WILL be lost at this intersection and the housing project will only increase the odds of that
happening.
