The very old trees at 71 Palomar are a SIGNIFICANT WILDLIFE HABITAT for the entire neighborhood stretching from (at least)Foothill up the mountain on Cerro San Luis and South to the 101. They play an important part in the neighborhood ambience as well. Their shade cover also prevents undue warming of the area. I am an advocate of affordable housing, and believe that infill is so much better than sprawl, especially while protecting our hills and views. However, as a designer & space planner, I know that there are ways to work around our habitat trees to preserve them and still achieve density in our city. I would request that the project be delayed until the city building codes are rewritten, as this very issue will be a major focus in the revision process. We have lost so many of our old, mature trees to drought & disease. Let's have the wisdom not to sacrifice these important habitat trees to development's expediency. Why should the trees & animals be the offering on the altar of "progress"? Thank you for this consideration. Jacki Williams & Family Mission Lane, nearby. Sent from my iPhone 1
