Subject: 22 Chorro Street Project
February 5, 2017
Dear City Council of the people of San Luis Obispo,
I write, again, in opposition to the project being considered for 22 Chorrro Street, SLO.
I will address two:
I feel you have not adequately considered, nor studied, the safe of our
community. This intersection is already one of the most hazardous in our city. Foothill
takes a weird deviance from straight there, Chorro comes in at an angle, getting in and
out of the little center with Jamba Juice and Starbucks is a nightmare, and one of our
main fire stations is right there.
Then throw in pedestrians, bicyclists, school buses, city buses, and cars going in circles
trying to find a parking place.
(Since the project doesn't provide enough parking for their tenants)
Imagine, now, the dump trucks, concrete trucks, supply trucks, and all the workers
trucks thrown into the mix, during construction.
Quite a quagmire, isn't it!!
It was mentioned at an earlier meeting, that perhaps the local residents in that area,
some whom have lived there for several decades, should have to acquire parking
permits.
To park in from of their own homes!
This is unacceptable. The onus should be on the developer of this misguided project to
provide parking. I feel that the fairer decision would be to have all the tenants have to
register their vehicles, plus have a sticker on their windshields. Then, if found parking
in the local residential neighborhood, they should be ticketed, and the landlords fined.
I feel, very strongly, that these issues, regarding the safety, health and welfare of our
residents have not been given the serious merit they deserve. And that this project is
inappropriate for our neighborhood.
Thank you for listening to your constituents,
Debbie Anthony
