Subject: 22 Chorro
Mayor Harmon and Council Members,
Thanks for taking time to read this. I'm sure it's not easy, as I know people can get pretty emotional and shell out some harsh
insults. So, I first want to thank you for your patience.
I'm writing to express my serious concerns about the proposed 22 Chorro development.
It can be easy to get so lost in the details and technicalities that we lose sight of the big picture.
I have a few questions for you...
BUT I ask that you answer them only to yourself and DO NOT share the answers with anyone else. Go with me here, it will make
sense...
While you consider your answers, remember, they don't need to comply with any rules or purview... It's just your honest
thoughts. Period.
1. Do you know how things worked out with a similar development that this SAME developer built in Santa
Barbara? How would you feel if that happened here in SLO? What makes this different?
2. Do you think the development could create traffic issues? Is there a good reason NOT to do a traffic study?
3. What do you think will happen in the afternoon when 50 students returning from class all need to park their cars? How
will the lift work out then? How about in the morning before classes? Will students really wait 30 minutes to use the lift, or
will they just park on the street (maybe a few blocks away, taking up neighborhood parking)?
4. Do you think it could make the intersection at Foothill more dangerous?
5. It's supposed to be low-income and workforce housing. Do you truly believe that it will be used for these purposes?
6. Overall, do you honestly believe that the development as proposed will serve the residents of SLO and have a positive
impact on the neighborhood?
I know you chose to devote a huge amount of time and energy to your position on Council because you care about the people of this
city.
I don't know how you will vote on this, but I do ask that regardless of how you vote that it is based on truly serving the people of this
city.
There are always technicalities and loopholes and people will play games with them out of fear, greed and ignorance.
But I've written to you because I know you see beyond this.
There's a bigger picture here... People's lives YOU can change.
That's why you took this position, isn't it?
THANK YOU.... I mean really THANK YOU for serving our city.
