To Whom It May Concern
My husband, daughter and I live on South Tassajara. I have lived in this neighborhood for over 15 years. In that time, I
have experienced a revitalization in this neighborhood thanks in large part to several amazing neighbors who have
mobilized us. It has instilled a new sense of pride and concern for this neighborhood.
With that being said, it's been brought to my attention that monies earmarked for the purchase of property for a park in our
neighborhood is going to be redistributed. This would further delay getting a park in our neighborhood and this was
promised over 40 years ago as part of the General Plan.
This neighborhood has been working hard to build a wonderful community. It's time to support our efforts and place this
park as a priority. This would build upon the work that is already being done to strengthen this community. The
nearest park is across a very busy intersection - Foothill Boulevard. This neighborhood lacks a park, which is crucial for
all of the young families in this area. Being a mother to a 1.5 year old, we have met many other young families who would
benefit from this community space. It would be another way to retain the families in this neighborhood. An area should
also be carved out for an enclosed off -leash dog area, which today does not exist on this side of town. There are
many dog owners in the neighborhood that we have met who do not have somewhere close by to have their dogs play off
leash. Throop Park requires dogs to be on leash and thus have not been an attractive option for many dog owners. This
would be a great area for those dog owners.
I urge you to reconsider the redistribution of funds and delaying moving forward on a park for the North Side of
Broad. The efforts of these community members should be recognized by building a park for this neighborhood.
Thank you for your consideration,
