Subject: Item # 17 City Council meeting 3/17/17: Natural reserves/open spaces hours of use.
PLEASE PLACE WITH ITEM # 17 AGENDA CORRESPONDENCE THANK YOU.
The natural reserves open spaces have been given top priority protection by City residents for many
years through their elected representatives. That's what has preserved our hillsides, natural reserves
and morros. It has also protected wildlife habitats necessary for the survival of plants and animals
whose homes we're talking about invading in the dark of night.
A secondary use was granted for passive recreation with the compromise agreement that the hours
of use shall be between one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. This not only protects
wildlifes' ability to obtain food, water and habitat protection, but also provides protection for human
safety.
Please protect our environment from further degradation and do not extend the nighttime hours in our
natural reserves/open spaces. Keep existing hours which were a created in the spirit of compromise.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Cheryl McLean
