Subject: Support of Open Space Hours Policy Change^
Dear Mayor Harmon and City Council,
I would like to urge Council to work with City Staff to move forward with changes to the Open Space hours of
use regulations. From reading the staff -prepared report it sounds like there is still a great amount of work to
be done to ensure that the changes we make do not significantly impact wildlife or neighborhoods around
trails. I am in support of City Staff working on a plan to implement changes such as optimized hours at site
specific locations and docent -led outings as a pilot program.
With the current regulations I do not have the flexibility in my work schedule to use our dedicated Public Open
Space during the week in the wintertime. I would like to see an extension of the hours of use at least at Cerro
San Luis and Irish Hills Open Space to match summer time hours. I encourage Staff to consider morning hours
as well. I also agree with Staff that set hours will reduce some ambiguity in enforcement.
Thank you for your consideration.
