The rules put the environment first, people second. The point of having Open Space around SLO is to provide a Natural buffer around our town. It helps keep us closer to nature, making our City a better place to live. Yes, I too work late, yes I too love to hike our open spaces, yes I too like to MTB our open spaces, so I understand the desire to have more of what I only seldom can enjoy. But I was raised to have respect for our environment, with the ideal to leave no trace, and do no harm to the natural environment. Compromising our existing Open Space rules encroaches on the nature that past Councils have attempted to preserve at the behest of the SLO citizenry. Please don't erode the intent of our Open Space program! Sincerely, SLO City resident
