Subject: Item 17 on 3/21 agenda
I am a frequent user of the open spaces in and around San Luis Obispo. I enjoy hiking and biking in the beautiful hills
and commend you on making their preservation a top priotiy!
By building and maintaining top quality trails you have made recreational use of the open spaces a thoroughly enjoyable
experience.' I spend a lot of money in the community by combining an outdoor experience with shopping and eating at
local establishments. I can also see that property values remain high due in large part to access of these areas.
I'm interested in a reasonable expansion of the hours to include early morning and early evening (Sam to 9pm) to allow
people access before and after work. It also provides a varied experience for hikers and bikers to come out for sunrise
and sunset, moonlight and nighttime recreation. It is a great experience and gives very limited exposure to nighttime
animal activities. The longest part of the night is still undisturbed for wildlife. A very small percentage of daytime users
will take advantage of the extra hours and they are usually the most experienced outdoor enthusiasts, mindful in their
actions and prepared for conditions.
Please consider adding these hours of operation to the San Luis Obispo open spaces!!!

Dan Ardoin
