I concur with many of my neighbors concerning the building of 33 apartments on the site and the consequent impacts upon the surrounding community. I understand that no traffic/circulation studies have been required of this project. The neighborhood streets are already dangerous, heavily traveled, crowded and over -parked, with hilly terrain and winding narrow streets. I take my kids to/fro school via Palomar, across Luneta to Ramona everyday. The blind corner at the Valencia apartments is a hazard with the present traffic and will only get worse. The bus stop is abuzz with riders and the busses block the field of view, which will be a greater hazard with increased traffic. Noise is another factor. As we are a mile from the Cal Poly campus, we can hear sports games every Friday night. Far worse, we hear noisy parties at Valencia Apts. and a few rental properties on the four streets of Lunette Serrano, Palomar and Ramona. This noise pollution will only get worse as students are likely to be tenants in these dwellings. As a 7 year resident on Serrano, I have personally had to call the police at least every two weeks minimum as'have many of our neighbors. My young sons walk and ride their bicycles down Palomar daily and increased traffic will be a danger at every intersection they must cross the street. I hope there will be speed bumps and other safety measures put in place to address the dangers inherent with this development. It is with increasing concern that projects like this do not have requirements for a traffic study. Of course, like any city resident, there are elections that we will participate in to help shift the tide to more reasonable solutions for concerned citizens.
