Subject:4/4/17 APPEAL 71 PALOMAR item 16"
Dear City Council,
I am writing in support of preserving 77 Palomar Dr in San Luis Obispo. We have spoken to hundreds of people regarding this project and the only people who support it are connected
with
the developer who is only interested in making money on this historical, neighborhood site. Please represent the wants of your community who you serve, not developers. Everyone is
watching this case to see where the city's loyalties lie.
As a reminder,
The Southern California developer's plan is to clear-cut 55 of the 59 beautiful, mature trees surrounding the Historic Master Listed Sanford House built about 1890 which he plans on
relocating on the site. The house may well not survive the move.
The Tree Committee has been presented with 2 unacceptable tree/environmental reports from companies hired by our Community Development Department.
No avian study has been required in spite of this being a nesting site for raptors, Red-Tailed Hawks, Red-Shouldered Hawks, White-Tailed Kite and over 20 additional birds listed on
the
Federal Migratory Treaty.
Thank you for your time.
