Dear Planning Commission:
I'm writing to urge you to support San Luis Ranch. When I first learned about this project, I immediately loved the idea of
the Agrihood and the Agricultural Learning Center. As a mom with two little girls, I just loved the idea of them getting to
learn more about where their food comes from and the history of their city. We've looked for other experiences like
this in our town and we haven't been able to find it. Cal Poly has such an extensive agriculture program, but they don't
have any hands-on learning for our next generation. I truly look forward to visiting this center with my husband and kids.
As I learned more about this project, I really fell in love with so many of its components. It seems to be so well thought
out. I love that they've already thought about traffic issues and plan on completing Froom Ranch Road and the Prado
overpass. I love that the buildings will be constructed with sustainability in mind. I love that they've worked with the
bike community to complete the Bob Jones Trail and create other paths. They really looked at the needs of our
community and then created a plan around that.
Most importantly, our city is desperately in need of more housing. I'm a young professional and business owner and I
want to see our town to continue to thrive. I plan to be here, continue to raise my kids here and continue to raise my
business here. In order for our community to grow, we need some more affordable housing. We need to figure out how
families can stay here. I walk around my neighborhood looking for young families and they are few and far between. I've
seen a lot of young couples move to Templeton or Arroyo Grande. It honestly makes me wonder sometimes who my
kids are going to go to school with.
The San Luis Ranch Project is something we need, please support it.
Best,
Jamie
