Im writing to express my support of the San Luis Ranch project and urge you to force of our community. RECEIVED CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO MAY 2 4 2017 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT I didn't have the pleasure of growing up here, but my wife and I hand picked this town (from across the country) to open our business and serve the community. SLO was everything we wanted to raise a family- and it's turned out to be fantastic for that. Unfortunately, we are finding the housing market to be impossible. We are hard working, self employed professionals who offer a valuable service to our community, yet we can't afford to live in the city we love. We have seen good people who add value to this community move out of the city and even out of state because of the undeniable housing problems. We ban drive-throughs, citing environmental issues, yet we turn a blind eye to the tens of thousands of daily commuters traveling 10-40 miles each way from neighboring cities. It's time to face our problems. Personally, my wife and I own a business in SLO, yet our family is forced to live in Atascadero commute 40+ miles per work day, sometimes 80+ miles when we can't carpool, which is becoming more frequent with the addition of our 3 month old daughter. Our family has always envisioned living in San Luis Obispo, but never thought it was possible until we heard about San Luis Ranch. Please consider supporting San Luis Ranch to help the future of SLO. I understand there may be backlash from current homeowners for their own personal reasons, but we can't think so short sighted. Long term, the health of our community needs more affordable housing for the people who make our community the wonderful place it is. Best regards, Stephen Gorshack
