COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
First of all, thank you for your time and energy invested into guiding this amazing comi-nunify. I wri e fo you in
regards to the San Luis Ranch development; one of the most important projects to shape the future of San Luis Obispo
and leave a legacy impact.
After surviving my first 18 years of 1100 weather, valley fever, and onslaughts of tumbleweeds in Bakersfield, I came
to the oasis that is SLO to attend Cal Poly. For the last twelve years, I've had the pleasure of living here and
experiencing the evolution of our town.
SLO is where my heart is. This is home. But with artificially elevated demand (via Cal Poly who's only continuing to
increase attendance), an influx of outside investment, and limited housing supply, it is financially unviable to purchase
a home on workforce income in SLO.
This is certainly an oversimplification of the challenges we face as there are many different perspectives. As the son
of a developer, with an undergrad in engineering, and working here as a business growth consultant, I fully experience
this. I encourage the Planning Commission to continue embracing challenges and using your creativity to find
solutions that aren't always restrained to preconceived limitations.
In short, please don't make me move back to Bakersfield. Enable a generation of local talented, hard-working
individuals to build equity, establish roots, and grow the economic vitality of our beautiful community. Support San
Luis Ranch.
Thank you!
