5. Discussion Modifications to Art After Dark 2017 Programming
Public Comments:
Guest Papp stated that Art After Dark is an engine to get people to the house. There is no evidence
that barring people from viewing what they are interested in seeing will get them to comeback. Papp
belabored that the house is about the visitor not the Docent
• Exofficio Member Darnell would like to make the parlor, library and dining room available
to guests of Art After Dark patrons.
• Member Ulz expressed concern that not including the kitchen could create traffic flow
problems and would limit the number of exits during the program.
• Member Ulz stated that the power of Art After Dark is to attract an audience that the house
does not normally attract. To deny patrons the opportunity to see the museum is a mistake.
• Vice Chair Kincaid articulated concern that if the tours are free, the Jack House is losing out
on monies.
• Member Ulz stated funding for museums is much easier to raise if you can prove you are
engaging with a wide and diverse audience.
• Member Crotser voiced that a video could help show the upstairs without the help of extra
docents.
