HomeMy WebLinkAbout06_28-29_2017 PC Correspondence - Avila Ranch (Glaudel) From: Michael T. Glaudel < RECEIVED Sent: Friday, June 16, 2017 3:11 PM CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO To: Advisory Bodies; E-mail Council Website JUN 19 2017 Subject: Avila Ranch Housing COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT To the Planning Commission and the City Council of the City of San Luis Obispo: As a local business owner, one of the main issues in hiring and retaining employees is the high cost of housing in San Luis Obispo. We need affordable housing in San Luis Obispo to keep our local talented workforce in place. To that end, the Avila Ranch project is a step in the right direction and it is my hope that the Planning Commission and City Council can see the many benefits this project affords and will see to it to approve the project. On a personal level, my daughter and new son-in-law are both employed in San Luis Obispo and have good paying jobs. However, with the lack of affordable housing they may at some point be forced to leave the area in order to purchase a home and raise a family. Hopefully with the Avila Ranch project and others that may come along, there would be opportunity for them to remain in San Luis Obispo and keep their tax dollars working locally. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Michael T.
