COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Having lived in this community all my life, and seen the tremendous changes and progress
made, it is disheartening to see only the affluent be able to afford a home, while the middle
class has to commute every day to and from work, creating pollution, and congestion, and
taking the tax revenue we could use in this community over the Cuesta Grade or South to the
Five Cities area. And, while some of that is a personal choice the majority of it stem from
the lack of affordable housing within the boundaries of SLO.
The Avila Ranch project provides an opportunity for the working class to bring back their tax
base dollars, cut down on pollution, congestion, and give back some of the eclectic diversity
that is culture, connection, and vitality. With over 700 affordable homes in a Net -zero
Energy Community, reducing traffic congestion, and pollution from such emissions.
More parks, bike paths and a unified community should be reason enough for you
approval. The fact that all of this is wrapped up in a well design and thoroughly planned
development make it promise of community improvement.
Please vote to approve this project and bring back the strength of SLO, it people.
Thank you,
Belinda Rollins
