COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
The Avila Ranch project is a well-designed, middle-class neighborhood development — the contemporary version of
the mid -20th century SLO neighborhoods where many of us were raised. The SLO Chamber of Commerce, EVC, and
Home Builders Association have all stated that our community needs more than just the ends of the housing spectrum
— super high-end luxury homes and small `affordable' units - but instead a diversity of housing allowing young
people, small families and working-class individuals a realistic chance at homeownership within SLO. I'm a born-
and-raised-in-SLO native (who had to buy a house in Templeton) who wholeheartedly agrees. Let's make Avila
Ranch happen without unnecessary delay or cost. We'll be a better community for it.
Thanks,
Ben Higgins
