I am also the owner of a small business that is based in San Luis Obispo. I am writing in support of Avila Ranch. As we all know, SLO currently has a housing shortage. As a small community surrounded by open space, we, have limited areas remaining where there are opportunities to build housing. As such, we need to ensure the housing we do build is responsible, and addresses the community's needs now and for our future. Avila Ranch does just that. It is a result of years of working with hundreds of local residents and employees to create a proposal that is the right fit for the community. The developers have gone above and beyond to ensure this project brings much needed improvements to the entire SLO community. Unlike most housing developments, Avila Ranch creates outdoor spaces that are accessible to everyone, not just those living in Avila Ranch. This includes traffic improvements, including an extension of Buckley Road to South Higuera, new bike paths that connect the City to the Bob Jones Trail, and parks that can be used for much needed soccer fields. With these improvements, Avila Ranch is much more than just additional workforce housing: it creates spaces that we can all enjoy. As an active community member, I value the sense of community we have here in SLO and feel Avila Ranch reflects that sentiment. For these reasons, I urge your support and approval of this project. Sincerely, Courtney Taylor i
