In fact, it's so great that we've run out of places for families like mine to live! My husband and I are both well established in our careers, but we chose to buy a home in Arroyo Grande a decade ago due to the cost and availability of housing even then. We had hoped that by now we could make the transition to SLO, but the housing crisis has only worsened in that time. Despite having an Arroyo Grande mailing address, we consider ourselves San Luis Obispans and our life is definitely SLO-centric. We commute to San Luis Obispo with our five-year-old son for both work and play almost every day of the week. Many others seem to have the same idea .... and now traffic on the 101 corridor between South County and San Luis Obispo is becoming a problem and impacting the amount of time we can have together each night as a family. While it will likely come too late for our family, I hope you'll consider approving the Avila Ranch Housing Project so that other families in the future have the opportunity to live, work and play in San Luis Obispo, while helping to relieve some of the traffic congestion for those who are forced to live out of SLO.
