HomeMy WebLinkAbout06_28-29_2017 PC Correspondence - Avila Ranch (Ramirez) From: Ramirez < Sent: Tuesday, June 27, 2017 10:46 PM To: Advisory Bodies Subject: attn: ARC, RE: Project Avila Ranch/San Luis Ranch Dear SLO Architectural Review Commission: Brian Rolph,Greg Starzyk, Richard Beller, Amy Nemcik, Allen Root, Angela Soll, and Greg Wynn; A quote from Dr. Seuss " So, open your voice lad! for every voice counts" My name is Silvia Ramirez, I am a mother of two teenagers( 17 years and 14 years) and a wife to a UPS Driver. I work at a rental property management company in SLO and my husband works from the SLO UPS center and my two daughters go to SLO High. I worked for over 7 + years for the SLUSD Elementary school and volunteered there for 10 years as well. My husband and I volunteer as Youth Leaders at a local Spanish speaking community Church here in SLO which has been helping and serving locals for the past 20 years, we work with kids ages 12 years and older for the past 11 years. For 6 years we were forced to move to Atascadero due to the very high rental market and steep home buying prices. We had to commute for those six years to our daily jobs and kept our daughters in SLO School district because we have always called SLO home. Due to my husbands income we cannot qualify for low income, but we cannot afford the current housing market as our income is not of an upperclass. We would have loved to have been able to afford a home to see our girls grow up and be able to have a puppy and see them be able to play in their very own back yard. Sadly this is and was not our case. We have had to rent high rental prices and apartment size places where our girls have been very limited to what they can decorate there room and not able to have a pet as a companion. This Projects that are being well planned out would give us the opportunity to be first time homeowners at the age of 34 years for me and 39 years at my husbands age. I ask that you pass this two projects that are being presented before you and take the voices of those who have quietly been waiting for this type of opportunities and are very grateful for the people who decided to speak for on our behalf to be able to afford our first time home as WE are SLO Locals and will be. I was until now one of the quiet voices who hoped for some one to step up and speak up in order to build homes for people in our income bracket. I realized that we are the voices, we are the ones that need to speak up, staying quiet is of no help. We must try and ask for affordable housing for the workforce people like ourselves. I urge you in making this Project Plans a reality and making this dream a reality to families like mine. Dr Seuss quote "Unless someone like you cares a whole aweful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." and "Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers a simple" Sincerely and patiently waiting, RECEIVEDCITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO Silvia Ramirez JUN 2'8 2017 Contact information Email: eramirez111677@yahoo.com Phone number 805-234-1930 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT Mail address: POBOX 621 San Luis Obispo, Ca. 93401-w-- --
