Re:
Discussion
Item
3C,
“Update
on
Implementation
of
SRTP.”
Dear
Chair
Osumi
&
Members
of
the
Mass
Transportation
Committee,
I
was
a
participant
in
the
public
process
accompanying
the
development
of
the
Short
Range
Transit
Plan.
Of
particular
concern
to
my
neighborhood
was
the
Phillips/Pepper
loop.
Over
the
course
of
this
public
process,
I
was
assured
unequivocally
and
without
qualification
that
SLO
Transit
would
no
longer
operate
on
the
Phillips/Pepper
loop
beginning
last
month,
June
2017.
You
are
well
aware
that
this
did
not
come
to
be.
The
SRTP
was
presented
to
the
public
via
this
advisory
body,
the
Planning
Commission,
and
the
City
Council.
In
each
iteration,
the
Phillips/Pepper
loop
was
not
shown
on
the
plan.
At
no
time
in
the
public
process
did
any
member
of
the
MTC,
the
Planning
Commission,
or
the
City
Council
question
this
change
or
indicate
his
or
her
preference
that
SLO
Transit
service
remain
on
this
loop.
The
development
of
the
SRTP
was
a
colossal
effort,
demanding
funding1,
a
dedication
of
time
by
Mr.
Anguiano
and
his
staff,
countless
hours
of
review
by
this
advisory
body,
the
Planning
Commission,
the
City
Council,
and
concerned
members
of
the
public,
and
a
contract
with
LSC
Transportation
Consultants.
It
should
be
followed.
A
discussion
on
the
implementation
of
the
SRTP
and
possible
improvements
to
the
fall
schedule
is
on
the
agenda
for
the
July
12
MTC
meeting.
Respect
for
the
public
process
demands
that
any
improvements
to
the
fall
schedule
include
adherence
to
the
route
changes
in
SRTP
as
it
was
presented.
Sincerely,
Logan
Hunter
