COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
As you review the Avila Ranch project, please consider the advantages of having such a balanced and well -thought out proposal
in your city. I am particularly impressed by the number of transportation improvements included in this project. The
Buckley -So. Higuera connection is sorely needed to improve traffic flow in the southern portion of SLO. This will reduce the
hazards associated with the Vachell-So Higuera intersection, and should improve traffic safety.
I am also pleased to see the inclusion of several low/affordable housing units in the project which will enable some employees
who commute to SLID for their jobs to buy local, thereby increasing the viability of surrounding businesses.
The inclusion of several open space areas, particularly the ag buffer along Buckley make this a model for the City of SLO to use
to attract new residents and businesses.
I urge your yes vote on this project when it comes to you for your support.
