June 7, 2017 SLO Planning Commission San Luis Obispo, Ca 93401 Subject: Support for Avila Ranch Project Dear SLO Planning Commission: Kim Bisheff, Scott Mann Nicholas Osterbur, Hemalata Dandekar, Ronald Malak, John Fowler and Charles Stevenson; Air Vol Block, Inc. would like to express our support for your proposed Avila Ranch Project. The San Luis Obispo area needs additional workforce housing to support the local economy, and the proposed updates to the local traffic flow in the area of our manufacturing plant will make it safer for our employees and our customers! We are especially appreciative of these two facets of the traffic mitigation plan: 1. Addition of a dedicated left-turn signal light on southbound South Higuera Street turning onto Suburban Road. Currently, there is no traffic signal for those making that left turn onto Suburban Road, and traffic collisions are frequent at that intersection. 2. Extending Buckley Road to intersect with South Higuera in proximity to the Octagon Barn. The current Vachell Lane intersection with South Higuera is extremely dangerous, and very difficult to safely navigate in its current state. We appreciate the efforts to stop potential conflicts regarding sound emanating from the adjacent industrial facilities into the residential areas.
